Marksville, LA - The road to the 2026 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship made its Louisiana stop on Thursday at Tamahka Trails Golf Club, where a strong field of teams battled for three qualifying spots and two alternate positions.
After 18 holes, two teams stood at the top of the leaderboard. Grady Brame Jr. of Hammond and Lawrence Allan of Baton Rouge carded a 7-under-par 64 to match the Alabama duo of Logan Rawson and Van Thigpen from Elberta, with both teams securing their place in the 2026 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship.
The drama didn’t stop there. Five sides finished one shot behind at 6-under-par 65, creating a crowded playoff to determine the final qualifying spot and the two alternates. Those teams included Carter and Clancy of Dallas, Hunt and Noel of Tulsa, Phavorachit and Pimentel of Houston, Hulsey and Riles of Mississippi, and the Louisiana pairing of Humphries and Humphries from St. Amant and Woodworth.
The playoff began on the 18th hole, where Carter and Clancy of Dallas were eliminated after a bogey, while the other four teams advanced with pars. Back on the 18th tee for the second playoff hole, the Humphries brothers of St. Amant and Woodworth dropped out with a bogey, and Hunt and Noel of Tulsa were eliminated after making par, leaving only Hulsey and Riles of Mississippi and Phavorachit and Pimentel of Houston still alive. The playoff then shifted to the 10th hole, where Hulsey and Riles clinched the final qualifying position with a steady par as Phavorachit and Pimentel faltered with a bogey.
