Botts and Hebert Claim Division Titles at 36th Louisiana Senior Amateur Championship

The second round of the 36th Louisiana Senior Amateur Championship concluded Friday at Koasati Pines at Coushatta. Wade Botts of Marksville captured the Super Senior Division title with a tournament-low 67, while David Hebert of Broussard earned the Legends Division victory with rounds of 73 and 74. Both players completed 36 holes of stroke play to secure their respective division titles ahead of Saturday’s final round for the overall championship.

Super Senior Division – Wade Botts (Marksville)

After opening with a 77 on Thursday, Botts posted a bogey-free 67 (-5) in the second round, the lowest score of the championship to date. His 36-hole total of 144 (E) placed him at the top of the Super Senior leaderboard, four shots clear of the next closest competitor. Botts carded birdies on holes 1, 8, 10, 14, and 15, and navigated the firm greens and tight approaches at Koasati Pines with precision throughout the day. He played the front nine in 32 and closed with a steady 35 on the back, securing the Super Senior title with confidence.

Legends Division – David Hebert (Broussard)

Hebert showcased remarkable consistency throughout both rounds, beginning with a 73 (+1) on Thursday and following it up with a 74 (+2) on Friday, culminating in a total score of 147 (+3). His reliable ball-striking and adept course management enabled him to maintain his lead in the Legends Division, even in the face of difficult pin placements and variable wind conditions. During his second round, Hebert made a crucial birdie on the par-5 12th and a series of pars that solidified his hold on the division lead. His +3 total ultimately secured him the Legends title by a slim margin.
