66 players competed in the final round of the Louisiana Golf Association’s 37th Louisiana Senior Amateur Championship. This morning’s tee times begin at 8:00 AM off the 1st and 10th tee. The course played to a par 72 at approximately 6,578 yards for today’s round.

Lake Charles, LA – The sun was shining and the wind picked up during the final round of the 37th Louisiana Senior Amateur Championship at Lake Charles Country Club.

David Church of Broussard claimed his first Louisiana Senior Amateur Championship title, finishing at three-under par to secure a wire-to-wire victory. Church remained at the top of the leaderboard throughout the round, though he was challenged at several points along the way.

He turned in a steady scorecard, recording a birdie on hole No. 1 and bogeys on holes No. 2 and No. 14. When asked how he handled not being able to play due to weather the day prior, Church said he passed the time by following the Kentucky Derby, which served as a perfect distraction while preparing for the final round. Church is also a proud member of Oakbourne Country Club.

Billy Joe Tolliver of Saint Gabriel finished as runner-up at two-under par, carding four birdies and three bogeys for a round of 71.

Stan Humphries of Monroe made the biggest move on the leaderboard during the final round. Starting the day at even par, Humphries worked his way into a tie for the lead at four-under after birdies on holes No. 1 and No. 5 and an eagle on hole No. 11. He gave a few shots back coming in, with a bogey on No. 12, a birdie on No. 13, a bogey on No. 14, and a double bogey on No. 16, finishing at one-under par to secure third place.

The Louisiana Golf Association extends its sincere appreciation to Lake Charles Country Club, its staff, and membership for their hospitality and support in hosting the 37th Louisiana Senior Amateur Championship.
