The Flighted Championships will play from forward tees and will compete within their respected flights.  This year’s Women’s Amateur field looks to be a strong one with five former champions competing for the title of top women’s amateur champion in the state.  Abbey Daniel of Covington is back to defend her title from last year. Daniel, an accomplished junior amateur player broke through last year with her 5 & 4 victory over Julia Johnson of St. Gabriel at Southern Trace Country Club in Shreveport. Some of the notable players in this year’s field include The Country Club of Louisiana’s own Julie Harrison, Women’s Amateur Champion in 2004, Women’s Mid-Amateur Champion in 2008 and 6-time Women’s Senior Amateur Champion (2011-13, 2016-18) looks to add to an impressive amateur resume with a win on her home track. Kay Daniel of Covington, 2005 Women’s Amateur Champion, 12-time Women’s Mid-Amateur Champion, and back-to-back Girls Junior Amateur Champion (1988 & ‘89) will be tough opponent this week.
