The course played to a par 72 at approximately 6,578 yards for the Overall Senior division and 5,947 yards for the Super Senior and Legends divisions for today’s round.

Lake Charles, LA – It was a cloudy day with a light drizzle during the opening round of the 37th Louisiana Senior Amateur Championship, but the rain held off long enough for everyone to get their round in without delays.

David Church of Broussard set the pace in the Overall Senior division with a four-under par 68. He turned in one of the cleanest rounds of the day, going bogey-free with four birdies to take the early lead.

Jay Leblanc of Prairieville sits just one shot back at three-under par, while Byron Martin of Westlake and Phillip Frazier of Baton Rouge are tied for third at two-under.

In the Legends division, David Hebert of Broussard leads after an opening round of two-under par 70. Hebert started steady with a string of pars before a double bogey on hole 4 set him back. He bounced back well, picking up three birdies during the round and finishing strong with an eagle on 18, just one hole after his only bogey of the day on 17.

Hal Wright of Shreveport sits alone in second place, three shots back at one-over par. Douglas Hobbs of Lafayette and Mike Walpole of Choudrant are tied for third at two-over.

In the Super Senior division, Bill Land leads the way after an even-par round. He got off to a good start with birdies on holes 3 and 5, gave a few back with bogeys on 7, 15, and 17, but closed with a birdie on 18 to finish even.

Randy Goff of St. Francisville is two shots back in second at two-over par, and 35th Louisiana Senior Amateur Champion Luke Scobel of Hammond sits in third at three-over.
