Landen East surged into solo first place on Saturday at the 106th Louisiana Amateur Championship, firing his second consecutive 66 to take a commanding lead at 17-under-par 199 through three rounds at Bayou Oaks at City Park (South Course).

The Sulphur native began the day one shot back but quickly erased the deficit, stringing together another clean, confident round. East’s scorecard again showed his hallmark consistency, highlighted by six birdies and just a single bogey on the par-4 17th. With rounds of 67-66-66, East has positioned himself as the man to beat heading into Championship Sunday.

Right on his heels is Connor Cassano of Baton Rouge, who carded a third-round 67 to reach 202 (-14). Cassano, who blistered the course with a 64 on Friday, kept pace admirably and will join East in the final pairing. With a sharp short game and proven ability to go low, Cassano remains a major threat in the title chase.

Saturday’s low round belonged to Lawrence Allan, also of Baton Rouge, who vaulted up the leaderboard with a 64 to move into a tie for third at 203 (-13). Allan’s seven-spot climb was one of the biggest moves of the day.

Joining him at -13 is Noah McWilliams of Benton, who came into the day in a share of the lead but fell back with a round of 71. McWilliams will look to bounce back in the final round after opening the week with rounds of 68 and 64.

With just four strokes separating the top four players and pristine scoring conditions expected on Sunday, the stage is set for a dramatic finish in New Orleans.

The 106th Louisiana Amateur Championship is conducted by the Louisiana Golf Association and hosted at the City Park South Course – a venue known for its championship-caliber layout in the heart of New Orleans.
