Boatwright Intern for 2019. This internship will allow Jacob to gain experience in many aspects in golf administration. The responsibilities of the intern will include assisting with office administration, championships, member services, social media, and course rating. Jacob is originally from Mobile, Alabama, but has lived most of his life in Oklahoma. Jacob moved to Lafayette in January 2019 after graduating from Oklahoma State University, where he majored in Sports Management. While in Stillwater, Jacob worked at Karsten Creek Golf Club and helped prepare the course for the 2018 Men’s and Women’s NCAA Golf Championships. Before his time at OSU, Jacob played two years of college golf at the University of Central Arkansas and was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Jacob’s extensive golf background, passion for the game, and sports management knowledge make him a great asset for the LGA. The USGA established the P.J. Boatwright Jr. Internship Program in 1991. Named for the late P.J. Boatwright Jr., former Executive Director and Director of Rules and Competitions for the USGA, the program is a wonderful continuance of his legacy and service to the game. It is specifically designed to give experience to individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in golf administration, while Allied Golf Associations in the promotion of amateur golf on a short-term, entry-level basis. Jacob will also get the opportunity to attend the 2019 Boatwright Intern Summit at the USGA Headquarters in Liberty Corner, New Jersey, May 20-23. Jacob’s internship is six months in length, and his start day is May 1. “I am very honored and excited to serve as the P.J. Boatwright Intern with the Louisiana Golf Association,” said Jacob. “I believe this is an excellent opportunity for me to gain valuable experience in golf administration while working as hard as I can to better the LGA.” Jacob is the LGA’s second intern to be hired in 2019, joining Conchita Stuhl who is also serving in that capacity through the end of the year. The Louisiana Golf Association is the governing body for amateur golf in the state of Louisiana and has served in that capacity since 1920. It serves approximately 90 member clubs and 14,000 individual members. The LGA is licensed by the United States Golf Association as the “Allied Golf Association” of record for the state of Louisiana. Its offices are in Lafayette. --- #### Tag: [News](https://blog.lgagolf.org/tag/news) #### Share: - [Follow us on Facebook](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https://blog.lgagolf.org/jacob-oaks-to-serve-as-lgas-2019-p-j-boatwright-intern) - [Follow us on Twitter](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?url=https://blog.lgagolf.org/jacob-oaks-to-serve-as-lgas-2019-p-j-boatwright-intern&text=Jacob%20Oaks%20to%20Serve%20as%20LGA’s%202019%20P.J.%20Boatwright%20Intern) - [Follow us on Linkedin](http://www.linkedin.com/shareArticle?mini=true&url=https://blog.lgagolf.org/jacob-oaks-to-serve-as-lgas-2019-p-j-boatwright-intern) - [Follow us on Pinterest](http://pinterest.com/pin/create/button/?url=https://blog.lgagolf.org/jacob-oaks-to-serve-as-lgas-2019-p-j-boatwright-intern&text=Jacob%20Oaks%20to%20Serve%20as%20LGA’s%202019%20P.J.%20Boatwright%20Interndescription=The%20Louisiana%20Golf%20Association%20is%20pleased%20to%20announce%20the%20hiring%20of%20Jacob%20Oaks%20as%20its%20P.J.%20Boatwright%20Intern%20for%202019.%20This%20internship%20will%20allow%20Jacob%20to%20gain[...]&media=) --- #### [Harrison Qualifies for U.S. Senior Women’s Open Previous Post](https://blog.lgagolf.org/harrison-qualifies-for-u-s-senior-womens-open) #### [DEREK BUSBY, BRANDON PIERCE, BEN SUAREZ, CASEY CLENDENON ADVANCE TO U.S. OPEN SECTIONAL QUALIFIER Next Post](https://blog.lgagolf.org/derek-busby-brandon-pierce-ben-suarez-casey-clendenon-advance-to-u-s-open-sectional-qualifier) ### Leave a Reply --- ## Related Posts [News](https://blog.lgagolf.org/tag/news) [Maili Bartz](https://blog.lgagolf.org/author/maili-bartz) 18 August, 2025 #### [A Hole-in-One?
