New Orleans, LA - The reigning Louisiana Women’s Amateur Champion, Jade Neves of New Orleans, has had quite the summer. She recently competed in the U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club and was gracious enough to give us some insight from this incredible experience.

Jade’s story in her words:

From the moment we arrived in Atlanta for the US Girls Junior Championship the USGA staff was sooo welcoming and kind. We were fortunate enough to play at one of the most well-known clubs in Atlanta, The Atlanta Athletic Club, and it was such a fabulous host for all the girls. We had the entire locker room decorated and filled with different goodies from the USGA every day, which was super cool. The breakfast and lunch they had for the players daily was phenomenal and so yummy! The AAC staff started preparing for the U.S. Junior weeks in advance which was so thoughtful of them and really made me know how serious they are about getting the Riverside course in excellent condition. From the hard fairways to fast greens, I am so grateful and fortunate that I had a chance to play at this beautiful course. The AAC had dozens of volunteers helping us with everything, including navigating the clubhouse and finding balls on the course.

The USGA staff made the event so special. They really made sure we were taken care of. All of the girls were definitely treated like the pros and it was so fantastic to take part in such a prestigious event like this. Also, the gifts were one of a kind and the best goodies I have received from a tournament.

While I was there, I also met a lifelong friend/caddie/mentor, Mr. Brian Muia. He is a member at Atlanta Athletic Club, a great golfer, and he dedicated his time to help me learn the challenging course.

It was an unforgettable experience and incredible to play against some of the best players in the world. I enjoyed every bit of it; just wish my golf game was a little sharper.

The Louisiana Golf Association is proud of the way Jade represented us on the national stage. She continues to elevate her game and we are excited for what the future holds for one of the rising stars in our game.
