Louisiana Golf Association Releases 2024 Championship Schedule

The Louisiana Golf Association (LGA) is pleased to announce its 2024 championship schedule. The LGA will once again conduct twelve Championships, in addition to eight Louisiana Amateur Championship Qualifiers. The LGA is an Allied Golf Association of the USGA, and as such, the governing body for amateur golf in Louisiana will conduct seven qualifiers on behalf of the USGA in 2024. “We are excited about our 2024 schedule and the quality venues we can provide our members with an opportunity to play,” said LGA Executive Director Logan Ray. “The schedule showcases premier LGA member clubs across the state that give back to the game by hosting our Championships, and we sincerely appreciate their support. The LGA is proud to provide first-class competitions for all golfers, and we look forward to welcoming everyone next season.” 2024 will be an amazing and memorable year for amateur golfers in Louisiana.

The 2024 LGA championship calendar is highlighted by the 105th Louisiana Amateur Championship, to be conducted at The Country Club of Louisiana in Baton Rouge, June 6-9. Registration for the Amateur Championship will open March 1, with an entry deadline of Tuesday, May 7 at 5:00 PM. The Louisiana Amateur Championship will return to the early part of June to ensure that the Champion will receive an exemption into the 2024 U.S. Amateur Championship. This exemption is part of the new qualifying structure for the U.S. Amateur Championship. The golf course will play to a par 72 at approximately 7,100 yards for the 105th Louisiana Amateur Championship, a stern but fair test. The Country Club of Louisiana has always been a tremendous supporter of amateur golf and has hosted numerous LGA Championships. This will be the fourth time in its history to host the Louisiana Amateur Championship (1999, 2006, and 2017). “The Country Club of Louisiana is excited to host the 105th Louisiana Amateur Championship,” said The Country Club of Louisiana Head Golf Professional Brian Williams. “We believe our course offers the best experience, championship conditions, and great challenges for all golfers. We are thrilled to welcome the best golfers from around the state to compete at The Country Club of Louisiana for the 105th Louisiana Amateur Championship”. 

The LGA will take the 96th Louisiana Women’s Amateur Championship to Lake Charles Country Club on June 21-23. Lake Charles Country Club has been supporting women’s amateur golf in Louisiana for over 70 years dating back to 1949 when they hosted the 21st Louisiana Women’s Amateur Championship won by A.T. Higgins. This will be the 7th time this Championship has been conducted at Lake Charles Country Club (1949, 1954, 1961, 1969, 1979, and 2017). Lake Charles Country Club completed a renovation of the golf course in the fall of 2023. Brand new tees and Mach 1 greens will provide an excellent test and experience for the best women amateur golfers in Louisiana. The LGA is very appreciative of the support from Lake Charles Country Club.  

Some other takeaways from the schedule release are:

  • The LGA is excited to take the 41st Louisiana Four-Ball Championship to Southern Trace Country Club. 96 teams will be tested at this fantastic club.
  • The 67th Louisiana Junior Amateur and the 59th Louisiana Girls’ Junior Amateur Championships will be conducted at Mallard Golf Club in Lake Charles July 10-12. A Scottish links-inspired golf course designed by Jeff Blume will be in excellent condition for the top junior players across Louisiana.
  • The 32nd Louisiana Mid-Amateur Championship will be conducted at Squire Creek Country Club on August 9-11. This will be the fifth time that Squire Creek has hosted this Championship. There will be no local qualifying for the Mid-Amateur in 2024. Registration for the Championship will be first come first serve. Exempt players will have priority registration before open registration. Exempt players will be able to register beginning on March 1. Open registration will begin on May 1. A spot in the Championship will not be held for an exempt player if he does not sign up before May 1.
  • The Net Amateur Championship will be conducted at Tamahka Trails Golf Club for the first time on August 24-25.
  • The Senior Amateur Championship will be played at Ellendale Country Club in Houma on May 8-10. Ellendale has been a huge supporter of the LGA throughout the years and this will be the first time they have hosted the Senior Amateur. 
  • The LGA will wrap up the 2024 season with the Women’s Four-Ball Championship at The Golf Club of Stonebridge in Bossier City on September 7-8 and the Senior Four-Ball at Beaver Creek Golf Club in Zachary on September 26-27. 
  • The LGA is excited to announce there will not be an increase in entry fee prices for 2024. We strive to provide golfers with a great competitive experience at an affordable price compared to similar events.
