24 players competed in the final round of the 24th Louisiana Women’s Four-Ball Championship held at The Island Golf Course in Plaquemine, Louisiana. Tee times began as a shotgun start off of holes 1 and 15-18 and hole one this morning at 8:00 AM. The course played to a par 72 at 5,329 yards for the overall field.
Plaquemine, LA – Maci Williams of Brusly and Evelynn Artieta of Denham Springs are the official champions of the 24th Louisiana Women’s Four-Ball Championship, capturing their second straight title with a 17-under-par finish. The duo delivered an outstanding final round, bouncing back from a single bogey with seven birdies and an eagle to edge out Julie Harrison of Baton Rouge and Kie McNabb of DeRidder, who finished one shot back at 16-under-par.
The championship came down to a thrilling final round filled with momentum swings. Harrison and McNabb set the tone early with a birdie on hole one. Artieta answered with an eagle on six to reclaim the lead, but Harrison immediately countered with an eagle on seven to tie the score again. Williams and Artieta then gained ground with back-to-back birdies on eight and nine, only to see Harrison and McNabb respond with birdies on 10 and 11.
The deadlock continued until hole 15, when Harrison and McNabb pulled ahead with a birdie to take a one-shot lead. Williams and Artieta showed grit down the stretch, leveling the score with a clutch birdie on 17. The decisive moment came on the par-5 18th, where Harrison was forced to take a drop and the pair carded a double bogey. Artieta sealed the victory with a steady par save, giving the defending champions a one-stroke win.
Over the course of the championship, Williams and Artieta combined for 17 birdies and one eagle, proving why they remain the team to beat. The pair will now look to carry their momentum into the upcoming Junior River Cup in the next few weeks.
Finishing in third place were Nichole Crochet of Baton Rouge and Hannah Schorr of Broussard at six-under-par.
