This highly anticipated event saw outstanding performances from all participants, with seven players securing their spots to advance to sectional qualifying for the 2024 U.S. Amateur Championship. Leading the leaderboard was Andrew Ferworn from Houston, Texas, who shot an impressive 68 (-4), which also earned him medalist honors. Nolan Forsman of Larchmont, New York, and David Beard from Madison, Mississippi, both shot a 3-under par, 69 , to share the second position and qualify. Local talents Hudson Partin of Denham Springs, Louisiana, Charlie Bell from Shreveport, Louisiana, and Clinton Shepard of Lafayette, Louisiana, each finished with a score of two-under par, 70 , tying for fourth place. Prior to the playoffs, a thrilling five-way tie emerged, featuring Grayson Glorioso of Metairie, Louisiana, Kyle Bennett of Zachary, Louisiana, Connor Cassano of Shreveport, Louisiana, Dodd Ferelle of Winterville, Georgia, and Boyd Owens of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, each finishing with a commendable round of 71. The intense playoff began on the 18th hole, a par 4 at Oakbourne Country Club. Unfortunately, Owens and Ferelle made bogeys, ending their contention. Cassano, Glorioso, and Bennett, displaying remarkable composure, each made par on the 18th, advancing to the second playoff hole on the 9th, a par 3. Off the tee, all three players executed immaculate shots, landing on the green within 10 to 20 feet of the hole. Glorioso then clinched the final qualifying spot with a phenomenal birdie. Kyle Bennett secured the first alternate position, while Connor Cassano finished as the second alternate. The event was marked by perfect conditions at the Oakbourne Country Club, providing a fair yet challenging course that tested the abilities of all competitors. The LGA extends heartfelt gratitude to the Oakbourne Country Club, the dedicated volunteers, and the participants who contributed to making this qualifier a remarkable and competitive experience. The successful qualifiers will now prepare to compete in the U.S. Amateur Championship, continuing their journey in one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments. The LGA wishes them the best of luck as they represent their regions on the national stage. **About the LGA** The Louisiana Golf Association (LGA) is a mission-driven organization dedicated to unifying the golf community across Louisiana.
