New Orleans, LA - Tommy Brennan kept it simple and steady today at English Turn Golf and Country Club, shooting a 4-under 68 in wet, rainy conditions to earn the only qualifying spot and low medalist honors at the 2025 U.S. Senior Amateur qualifier.
Brennan, from Covington, got off to a strong start with a 1-under 35 on the front nine. He picked up birdies on the par-5 2nd, went back-to-back on the par-4 5th and par-5 6th, and rolled in a two on the par-3 8th. He stayed hot on the back, adding three more birdies—including another back-to-back stretch on holes 10 and 11. Brennan capped off his round with one last birdie on 16 to lock in the day’s low score.
His 68 was two shots clear of the field on a course that played 6,601 yards with a 72.2 rating and 140 slope.
John Wright (70) finished runner-up and will serve as the first alternate. Edward McDugle and Todd Doss each posted even-par 72s, with McDugle earning the second alternate spot in a scorecard playoff.
Brennan now advances to the 2025 U.S. Senior Amateur Championship, to be held August 23 through 28 at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio, Texas.
