Volion carded a round one score of 70 and a round two score of 76, finishing the weekend at +2 over par. Volion started the first round hot going four-under after 11 holes. She found a rhythm early and was able to stay consistent over the two days to secure her first LJGT victory of the season. Jade Neves of New Orleans had a great showing as she finished runner-up in the first stroke play tournament of the LJGT season. Neves and Volion went head-to-head on the second day both carding a 76, but Volion’s five stroke advantage after the first deemed to be too much.  Evelynn Artieta of Denham Springs finished in third place one stroke behind Neves. Artieta carded a 76 in round one and round two. Niel Phillips of New Orleans, LA is your 2023 LJGT at Cane Row Champion for the Overall Boys’ division. The battle for the boys’ division was an exciting one with exceptional players in the field. Phillips had two solid rounds, carding a one-under 70 in round one and two-under 69 in round two helping him seal his first career LJGT victory over runner-up finisher John Trettin of Monroe. Trettin put the pressure on round one co-leader Phillips by firing an impressive tournament low 67 in round two. Phillips’s once five stroke lead after round one dwindled down to one before he responded by chipping in at the par four 15th and then following that up with a birdie on the 16th to re-extend his lead and close the door on a comeback from Trettin. Ben Blanco of Broussard, La had an impressive showing carding rounds of 72 and 71. Blanco went bogey free on the back nine of round two with two birdies to try and make a late surge for the runner-up position, but Trettin’s career day was too much. Blanco did secure the 15 & under medalist establishing himself as the best 14–15-year-old in the field at the LJGT at Cane Row. Parker Greene of Mandeville is your 2023 LJGT at Cane Row Champion for the 11-13 Boys division. Greene finished the tournament at streaky even par. Greene was the leader of the field after round one with an impressive even par and was able to hold onto his lead in round two carding another even par 72. Greene’s length off the tee was a huge advantage over the two days. Wayne Kabrich of Mandeville played some good golf both days carding a 74 and 76.. Kabrich finished at six-over par for the weekend to secure his runner-up spot.   It was a beautiful but hot two days at Cane Row with highs almost reaching 90 degrees. Cane Row Golf & Turf Club played to a par of 72 at approximately 6,600 yards for the Overall Boys’ division and approximately 5,600 for the Overall Girls’ and the Boys’ 11-13 division.
