BATON ROUGE – After more than a decade of successfully hosting the LHSAA High School State Golf Championships, Lafayette has long been a home for Louisiana’s top student athletes to compete at the highest level. The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) is proud to announce a new collaboration with the Louisiana Golf Association (LGA) and The Kelly Gibson Foundation (KGF), adding experienced golf organizations to help further elevate this already prestigious event and continue growing junior golf across the state.
“This partnership is a win all around,” said LGA Executive Logan Ray. “Lafayette is home to the LGA, and we are excited to showcase our member clubs and facilities and elevate the LHSAA High School State Golf Championships. We are thankful for the LHSAA’s trust and support along with our friends at the Kelly Gibson Foundation and the Lafayette host committee. This is a collaborative effort, and we plan to be a part of this for years to come. The players that make it to the state championships are going to have an amazing experience.”
“We’re excited about this opportunity to continue to grow the game of golf through this partnership with the Louisiana Golf Association and the LHSAA. Providing an enhanced competitive environment for high school golfers to play in their State Championships is important, and our collaborative efforts will accomplish that," said Taylor Capouch, Executive Director of the Kelly Gibson Foundation.
For over ten years, with the assistance and support of the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission, Lafayette has provided exceptional venues and memorable experiences for student-athletes, families, and fans, making the State Golf Championships a highlight of the high school sports calendar. This new partnership builds on that strong tradition, enhancing tournament operations and providing additional resources to ensure student-athletes compete in a professional, fair, and highly engaging environment.
The LGA and KGF will provide expertise and support to elevate the championships, including professional tournament administration and certified USGA Rules Officials, course setup and marking, live scoring and leaderboards, volunteer and staff coordination, media promotion, and strong relationships with host facilities. These enhancements complement the excellent foundation Lafayette has provided, giving student-athletes the opportunity to compete in a championship environment that reflects collegiate and professional standards.
The 2026 LHSAA State Golf Championships will be held on May 4th and 5th across four premier Louisiana courses. The Girls’ Division I and II tournaments will take place at Le Triomphe Golf & Country Club, while the Boys’ Division I and III competitions will be hosted at The Wetlands. Boys’ Division II will compete at Cane Row Golf Club, and Boys’ Division IV will be held at Farm d’Allie Golf Club. Each venue provides a challenging and rewarding environment that highlights the skill and dedication of Louisiana’s student-athletes.
The LHSAA remains dedicated to providing student-athletes with the most professional, competitive, and memorable championship experience possible. By combining Lafayette’s proven hosting excellence with the expertise of LGA and KGF, the State Golf Championships are set to reach new heights while continuing to celebrate Louisiana’s top high school golfers.
