The 2026 NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar was an experience that challenged me to rethink
how I lead, how I grow, and how I show up—long before a title is ever attached to my name.
While the room was filled with impressive resumes and leadership roles, what stood out most
was not the titles, but the responsibility that comes with being entrusted to lead.

Throughout the seminar, I was encouraged to reflect deeply on my purpose and the impact of
my daily actions. A recurring theme was the importance of maximizing the present moment.
Leadership is not something reserved for the future; it is practiced daily through intentional
decisions, accountability, and presence. I was reminded that early decisions carry a compound
effect and that choosing purpose over passion creates a foundation for sustainable growth.

Another powerful takeaway was the shift from focusing on what we do to understanding why we
do it. I learned that leadership is a process, not a destination, and that meaningful progress
comes from chasing problems we are genuinely excited to solve. This perspective challenged
me to stop waiting for the “right moment” and instead fully engage where my feet are planted.

The seminar also reinforced the idea that growth requires discomfort. Failing with pride, striving
for greatness and allowing character to guide leadership were lessons that resonated deeply.
One statement that continues to stay with me is: “If you are trying to get into new doors, you
cannot use old keys.” That message encouraged me to release outdated habits and mindsets
that no longer serve my growth.

I am incredibly grateful for the speakers, organizers, and mentors who created a space rooted in
honesty, intention, and development. The conversations, lessons, and connections formed
during this experience will extend far beyond the seminar itself. More than anything, the NCAA
Emerging Leaders Seminar affirmed that leadership is not about waiting, it’s about taking up
space, embracing responsibility, and choosing to lead with purpose every single day.
