First round results of the 2025 Junior River Cup at Ellendale Country Club in Houma, Louisiana on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

40 players competed in round one of the 2025 Junior River Cup.  Tee times began at 7:30 AM off the 1st tee.  The final group finished early at 5:30 PM.  

Houma, LA – The 2025 Junior River Cup began today at Ellendale Country Club with a full slate of Four-Ball and Foursomes matches. After a close morning session, Team Louisiana pulled away in the afternoon to take a 12.5 – 7.5 lead over Team Mississippi heading into Sunday’s singles.

Louisiana held a narrow 5.5 – 4.5 advantage after the morning Four-Ball matches, with wins from Evelynn Artieta & Maci Williams (3 & 2), Derby Everson & Owen Lejeune (5 & 3), Drew Prieto & Maddox Mowad (2 & 1), and Justin Lotz & Riggs Ryan (4 & 3). Mississippi answered with victories from JJ Fletcher & Christian Smelley (5 & 3), Jackson Autry & Jack Morris (2 & 1), and Wes Henson & JB Jones (4 & 3), while three matches were halved.

The afternoon Foursomes proved decisive as Louisiana won seven of the ten matches. Highlights included Derby Everson & Owen Lejeune’s dominant 7 & 6 victory, Ivan Popp & Augustin Gros’ 5 & 4 win, and Grace Goodwin & Morgan Goudeau’s 1 up finish in the girls’ division. Justin Lotz & Riggs Ryan also delivered a 1 up victory, while Evelynn Artieta & Maci Williams added a 3 & 1 win. Mississippi earned points from Charlie Magee & Sanders Harwell (2 & 1) and Jackson Autry & Jack Morris (5 & 4), while two other matches were halved.

At the end of Day One, Louisiana leads 12.5 – 7.5 over Mississippi. With 20 singles matches still to be played on Sunday, the Junior River Cup remains up for grabs as both sides look to close out the weekend strong.
