Beau Chene Country Club: Celebrating 50 Years of Excellence

This year marks a significant milestone for Beau Chene Country Club as it celebrates 50 years of excellence. Since its founding, Beau Chene has been a pillar of Louisiana golf, offering a premier experience to its members while staying true to its rich history and surrounding natural beauty.

The story of Beau Chene began in 1972 with the formation of Beau Chene, Inc., by Morgan Earnest and Lester Kabacoff (Kabby), New Orleans business partners and developers. Their dream was to create an exclusive retreat and golf resort for New Orleanians in Mandeville,  centered around an elite 36-hole golf facility, unique in the state. The land plan included home sites and also condominiums specifically designed for weekend and vacation use. Renowned golf course architect Joe Lee, known for designing some of the finest courses in the country, was enlisted to bring that vision to life. Lee crafted two championship courses that would stand the test of time, blending the area’s natural beauty with a layout that challenges and excites golfers of all skill levels.

In June,1975, the first nine holes opened for play, and the final nine holes of the Magnolia course completed the project in August, 1985. The club’s Oak Course quickly gained national recognition, earning the prestigious ranking of #1 course in Louisiana by Golf Digest in 1985. Today, Beau Chene remains the only privately owned 36-hole golf facility in Louisiana, a testament to Kabacoff’’s and Earnest’s vision and the club’s enduring prestige.Morgan Earnest & Joe Lee

The name “Beau Chene,” meaning “beautiful oak,” is a nod to the 82 towering live oaks scattered throughout the property, each with a circumference of at least eight feet. These majestic trees not only add to the club’s scenic beauty but also stand as symbols of its deep-rooted history.

Beyond its picturesque landscape, Beau Chene has been an integral part of Louisiana golf for decades. The club has hosted numerous Louisiana Golf Association championships and served as home course for some of the state’s top golfers. Its courses are known for their pristine conditions, strategic layouts, and championship-caliber design, making Beau Chene a destination for both serious competitors and casual players alike. Whether it’s a friendly round, a competitive tournament, or simply enjoying the camaraderie of the club, Beau Chene continues to set the standard for Louisiana golf.

While golf remains at its core, Beau Chene has grown into a full-scale recreational hub. Members enjoy access to three swimming pools, eight tennis courts—including one indoor court—and six pickleball courts, with two located indoors, along with a first class fitness center. These amenities have made Beau Chene more than just a golf destination; it’s a place where families and sports enthusiasts come together.

Over the past five decades, Beau Chene Country Club has evolved into more than just a golf club—it’s part of a vibrant community, which has shaped Louisiana’s golf landscape, blending tradition with innovation while fostering a welcoming atmosphere for all who walk its fairways. As the club looks ahead, its commitment to excellence remains unwavering, ensuring that future generations will continue to enjoy all that Beau Chene has to offer.

Here’s to 50 years of history, friendship, and championship golf—and to many more to come.
