Connor Cassano of Baton Rouge delivered a clutch performance under pressure on Sunday at Bayou Oaks at City Park (South Course), securing the 106th Louisiana Amateur Championship title in a dramatic sudden-death playoff over Landen East of Sulphur. Both players finished the tournament at 19-under par (269), forcing extra holes to determine the champion. Cassano sealed the victory with a birdie on the second playoff hole (No. 18) after matching pars on the first.

Cassano fired a final-round 67, his third consecutive sub-70 round, to erase a two-shot deficit entering the day. He carded seven birdies and showed poise with a 3-under back nine to post the clubhouse lead. East, who held a share of the lead entering Sunday, posted a 70 after a rollercoaster round that featured five birdies, including one at 17 to tie Cassano late. But his bogey at the par-5 13th proved costly as the two battled toward a photo finish.

In the playoff, both players made routine pars on the par-4 17th before returning to the par-5 18th tee. Cassano's second shot found the front of the green, and he calmly two-putted for birdie, while East's approach missed just short, and his chip left him outside birdie range.

Three players finished just one shot shy of the playoff at 270 (-18): Noah McWilliams (Benton), Lawrence Allan (Baton Rouge), and East’s co-leader after three rounds. McWilliams posted a final-round 67 to stay in contention, while Allan carded the same score after rounds of 70-69-64 earlier in the week.

The 106th Louisiana Amateur Championship featured elite competition and high drama, with four players separated by just one stroke after 72 holes. The Bayou Oaks South Course proved a worthy championship venue, offering risk-reward opportunities down the stretch and showcasing Louisiana’s best amateur talent.   The low 30 scorers and ties are exempt into the 107th Louisiana Amateur Championship at Metairie Country Club, June 4-7
