A look into the second round of the 33rd Louisiana Mid-Amateur Championship held at Bayou DeSiard in Monroe, Louisiana on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

Monroe, LA - Greg Berthelot of Baton Rouge carded a 5-under-par 67 on Saturday at Bayou DeSiard Country Club to take the 36-hole lead at the 33rd Louisiana Mid-Amateur Championship, presented by Louisiana National Bank.

Berthelot wasted no time getting on the board, making birdies on holes 2, 3, and 4. His lone blemish came on the par-3 9th, where he made a bogey after missing the green. He quickly bounced back on the back nine, stringing together three straight birdies on 10, 11, and 12 to finish with six birdies and one bogey. His two-day total of 136 (-8) gives him a two-shot cushion heading into Sunday’s final round.

John Humphries of Woodworth matched Berthelot’s 67 in the second round to move into solo second at 6-under-par 138. Humphries kept a clean card and capitalized on scoring opportunities on the back nine to stay within striking distance.

Baton Rouge’s Lawrence Allan sits third at 3-under-par 141 after an eventful even-par 72 on Saturday, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 6th, four birdies, and six bogeys as he looks to make a push in the final round.

Following today’s round, the field was cut to the low 60 players and ties, with those advancing set to compete in Sunday’s final round.
