The Louisiana Golf Association (LGA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Caroline Buchan as its P.J. Boatwright Intern for 2021. This internship will allow Caroline to gain experience in the many aspects of golf administration. The responsibilities of the intern will include assisting with office administration, championships, member services, course rating, and social media.

Caroline is originally from Monroe, Louisiana, and graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in May 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Management and a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. For the past 7 years, she has worked at Missy Crain Dance Studios as an assistant instructor, office personnel, business intern, and instructor. Caroline grew up playing and watching golf with her father, Ken (2016 LGA Senior Amateur Champion), growing her passion for the sport. She is excited to begin her journey with the LGA!

The USGA established the P.J. Boatwright Jr. Internship Program in 1991. Named for the late P.J. Boatwright Jr., former Executive Director and Director of Rules and Competitions for the USGA, the program is a wonderful continuance of his legacy and service to the game. It is specifically designed to give experience to individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in golf administration, while Allied Golf Associations in the promotion of amateur golf on a short-term, entry-level basis.

Caroline’s internship began March 1, and will continue through mid-August. “I am truly honored to be working with the LGA as the P.J. Boatwright Intern,” said Caroline. “I am excited to learn about golf administration and operations, while expanding my knowledge and passion for golf.”

The Louisiana Golf Association is the governing body for amateur golf in the state of Louisiana and has served in that capacity since 1920. It serves approximately 90 member clubs and 14,000 individual members. The LGA is licensed by the United States Golf Association as the “Allied Golf Association” of record for the state of Louisiana. Its offices are in Lafayette.
