Covington, LA – The Louisiana Golf Association (LGA) is proud to announce the successful conclusion of the Women’s Mid and Senior Amateur Championships hosted at Tchefuncta Country Club. The tournament, held from April 8th to April 9th, showcased a wealth of talent and sportsmanship among competitors from across Louisiana.
This morning’s tee times began at 7:30 AM off the first tee. The course played to a par 72 at 5,313 yards.
Covington native Kay Daniel claimed both Championship titles at Tchefuncta Country Club on Thursday. Daniel is a 14-time Louisiana Mid Amateur Champion and 4-time Louisiana Senior Amateur Champion. Daniel made a 40 foot birdie putt on the par 4 14th hole and finished her final round with back to back birdies on the par 5 17th hole and par 5 18th hole. Daniel posted the low round of the Championships on Thursday, a 1 over par 73 to finish at 7 over par 151.
In the Mid Amateur Championship, Nicole Crochet of Baton Rouge finished runner up after making 5 birdies in her final round and finishing 1 shot behind Daniel. Crochet, the 2024 Louisiana Women’s Mid-Amateur Champion shot rounds of 78-74 to finish at 8 over par 152. In the Senior Amateur Championship, Julie Harrison of Baton Rouge finished runner-up after rounds of 79-75. Shannon Hudson of Vinton finished in 3rd place with rounds of 75-83.
The Flighted Women’s Senior Amateur Championship concluded with Celeste Harris of Prairieville winning after shooting rounds of 76-76. Connie Bousquet of Mandeville achieved runner up with rounds of 83-73. Amy Tipton of LaPlace secured third place with rounds of 75-83.
