Covington, LA - The 2026 Louisiana Women’s Mid and Senior Amateur Championships teed off at 7:30 this morning with 13 players in the first round. The course played to a par of 72 at 5,313 yards.
This morning's Championships commenced with an exciting first round at Tchefuncta Country Club. Reigning 2025 Louisiana Women's Player of the Year, Shannon Hudson of Vinton, leads both the Mid-Amateur and Senior Amateur Championships by three shots in both.
Hudson got off to a slow start, but recovered in the middle of her round, making 6 pars in a row. She made birdie on the par 5 17th hole and made par on the 18th hole finishing with a score of 3 over par 75. She leads three players all tied for second place at 6 over par 78. Amanda Mathis of Duson, Nicole Crochet of Baton Rouge, and Kay Daniel of Covington. Julie Harrison of Baton Rouge is in solo 5th place, after a round of 7 over par 79.
The Flighted Women’s Senior Amateur Championship is also in progress this weekend. Amy Tipton of LaPlace leads the pack with an impressive score of 3 over par 75 (net). Celeste Harris of Prairieville, who shot a 4 over par 76 (net) is in second place.
As the tournament progresses, spectators can expect thrilling competition as these talented players compete for the titles of Louisiana Women’s Mid and Senior Amateur Champions.
