Carencro, LA — June 19, 2019

It was an exciting day for junior golf in South Louisiana. Farm d’Allie Golf Club hosted the U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur Qualifier and Allyn Stephens of Houston, TX fired a one-under par 71 to earn medalist honors and punch her ticket to the national championship. Stephens shot 36 on her front nine and a one-under par 35 on her back nine. She now advances to compete in the championship proper which will be conducted at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, July 22-27.

Stephens’ round included three birdies on holes #1, #3, and #15, just two bogeys on #5 and #9, and she captured medalist honors by one shot. Stephens was the only player in the field to finish in red figures. Bridget Ma of Naperville, Illinois was awarded with the 1st alternate position after shooting an even par 72. Eila Galitsky of Chiangmai, Thailand finished at one-over par 73 to claim the 2nd alternate position.

It was a hot, humid South Louisiana summer day with temperatures approaching the mid-90’s by mid-morning. The Farm d’Allie Golf Club course played firm and fast to a par 72 at approximately 6,057 yards for the qualifying round.
